Some mornings, the Daily Text lands softly. Other mornings, it feels rushed, squeezed between alarms, coffee, and responsibilities. The Daily Text Challenge isn’t about doing more. It’s about creating a small pause where Jehovah can speak into your day.
A little preparation goes a long way. Here’s how to gently get ready, without pressure or perfection.
1. Set your intention, not a goal
Before the challenge starts, take a quiet moment and ask yourself one simple question:
Why do I want to do this?
Not to be consistent.
Not to finish every day perfectly.
But maybe to slow down. To feel closer. To listen.
Write your intention on the first page of your journal. Come back to it when you miss a day.
2. Be realistic about your time
This is the part many of us skip, and then feel discouraged later.
Ask yourself honestly: On an average day, how much time can I truly give?
Here’s a gentle guide:
- 5 minutes – Read the Daily Text, underline one phrase, write one word.
- 5-10 minutes – Read, write one sentence or short prayer, and note how it applies to your day.
- 15–25 minutes – Read, reflect, journal a few thoughts, maybe add a bit of creativity.
All of these count.
5 focused minutes done regularly is far more nourishing than a plan that asks for fifteen minutes you don’t have.
Choose the smallest version you can keep on your hardest days. That’s your real rhythm.
3. You don’t have to commit to a full month
If a whole month feels heavy, don’t let that stop you.
Why not join for one week only?
7 days is enough to:
- Taste a slower pace
- Build a gentle habit
- Feel the difference a daily pause can make
At the end of the week, you can choose to continue, or simply be grateful for the week you gave Jehovah. Either way, it counts.
Spiritual growth doesn’t require long commitments. It starts with small, willing steps.

4. Prepare a small, inviting space
You don’t need a perfect desk or aesthetic setup. You just need a place that says, “You’re welcome here.”
That might look like:
- Your Bible and one pen
- A mug you love
- A notebook already open to the first page
The night before, set it out. In the morning, your future self will thank you.
5. Choose your rhythm
The challenge works best when it fits your life.
Ask yourself:
- Morning or evening?
- Same time daily or flexible?
- Writing full thoughts or jotting a phrase?
There’s no bonus for doing more. Jehovah notices the effort, not the length.
6. Decide how you’ll respond to missed days
This one matters more than we think.
You will miss a day. Maybe more than one.
So decide now: when that happens, I will…
- Return without guilt
- Pick up where I am, not where I “should” be
- Remember that mercy is built into spiritual growth
The challenge isn’t a streak. It’s a relationship.
7. Gather your tools
Keep it easy. Too many supplies can quietly become a distraction.
All you really need:
- Your Bible
- A journal or printable page
- One pen you enjoy using
Anything extra is optional, not required.

A quiet invitation
As the Daily Text Challenge approaches, don’t ask, “Can I do this?”
Ask instead, “What might happen if I show up?”
Even imperfectly. Even briefly. Even for just one week.

I love this ! I truly appreciate this. I’m super excited to get started. Thank you so much.
I was excited to see this “challenge” even though its not a challenge but more a journey. Your suggestions are spot on and it really shows how much you love to share what you know. Thank you, Alla
Thank you so much for this. It makes me feel that I can do this, make more time for Jehovah instead of just whizzing through. I actually love studying but life has just got in the way, especially now with my husband having alzheimers. I feel their is no time for me. Hopefully I can now mindfully get some time back for me and spend it with Jehovah.
