Have you ever prayed about a worry, then found yourself thinking about it again a few minutes later? When something matters deeply to us, it can be difficult to stop imagining outcomes or trying to solve what is beyond our control.

Psalm 55:22 offers this reassurance: “Throw your burden on Jehovah, and he will sustain you.”

Making a Prayer Box gives you a hands-on way to reflect on that invitation. The box itself does not take away your worries, but it can remind you to pray about them and rely on Jehovah’s support.

Create and Decorate Your Box

Make a box from scratch, choose a pretty stationery box, or use something you already have at home, such as a jar. Add your favourite colours, a scripture card, or a label that says “Throw Your Burden on Jehovah.”

My Prayer Bundle includes stickers you can use to decorate your box and keep encouraging reminders where you will see them.

Place your box near your notebook, with small slips of paper and a pen beside it.

Write Down What Is Weighing on You

Choose one concern and use these questions to put it into words:

  • What is worrying me?
  • How do I feel about it?
  • What help would I like to ask Jehovah for?

For example, instead of writing “a difficult conversation,” you might write: “I’m nervous about speaking to my friend because I don’t want to hurt her feelings, and I need help to listen patiently and choose kind words.”

Your note can be a few lines, giving you a starting point for prayer.

Pray, Then Place Your Note Inside

Talk to Jehovah about what you have written, explaining your feelings and asking for the help you need. Then fold the paper and place it in your box as a reminder that you have entrusted this concern to him.

You may still need to make a phone call, prepare for a conversation, or ask someone for help. Relying on Jehovah goes alongside taking the practical steps available to you.

If the worry returns, you can pray about it again, without treating those feelings as a failure to trust him.

Make It a Family Worship Activity

Creating Prayer Boxes can be a meaningful family worship idea, especially for young ones who enjoy making things or find drawing easier than explaining their feelings.

Read Psalm 55:22 together, then discuss a familiar situation, such as feeling nervous before school. Ask what a child might want to tell Jehovah and what help they could ask for.

Let each person decorate a box and write or draw a concern to place inside. Invite everyone to share if they wish, while allowing personal worries to remain private.

Young ones can keep their boxes as reminders that they can talk to Jehovah about their everyday concerns.

Look Back When You Feel Ready

When you feel ready, take out a few slips of paper from your Prayer Box and reflect on the concerns you wrote down.

Has anything changed, and what helped you cope?

You could add the date and a few words about the comfort, strength, or practical support you received, even if the situation is still unresolved.
