How I started taking Daily Text notes and my notebook flip-through.
How I started taking Daily Text notes and my notebook flip-through.
Hello friend. It's nice to have you here.
Today, I want to tell you how I started making my Daily Text notes, where I got my ideas from, what kind of notebook I used, and how the Daily Text Challenge was born.
So far, I've finished two Daily Text notebooks, and I'd like to tell you about the first one.

What kind of notebook did you use?
The notebook was just a weekly undated planner generic brand and wasn't intended for the Daily Text.
I bought it online (likely from Amazon), planning to schedule my week. But unfortunately, it didn't happen because the pandemic had arrived. As a result, I lost my job, stayed home, and had nothing to schedule. But on the other hand, I gained plenty of time to focus on creative journaling.
At first, I planned to use this planner as a creative outlet. Maybe as a diary, where I could jot down my thoughts and use different mediums to play around.
Then, I tried to make notes for the Daily Text every day. Of course, I've occasionally made creative notes before, but it was my first time when I started making them for the Daily Text.
What kind of supplies did you use?
In the beginning, I used all the available supplies I had: colouring pens, colouring pencils, posca pens, and some washi tapes. After that, I experimented with different mediums, which brought me much joy.
It was November 2020, and it was the 8th month of the pandemic. So at this point, focusing on Daily Text every day was a therapeutic process for me spiritually and creatively. It made my hands busy and brought much joy using colours.
Where do you take your inspiration from?
When you look closely at my notes in this notebook, you will notice that I mainly use lots of colours, draw simple doodles, blobs, dots and lines, and try different kinds of lettering.
It's nothing sophisticated, and everyone can do it this way. So for this, I didn't need much inspiration, but if I feel uninspired, I go to Pinterest, and that's a great place to find it.
Sometimes, when I do Daily Text, there is a specific image in my head. Then, I search Pinterest for a corresponding image to the one in my head and find lots of easy doodles.
Daily Text Challenge.
In February 2021, I decided to challenge myself and make my notes regularly for this month. I wanted to be more regular with reading my daily text, fill my time with spiritual things, and deepen my relationship with Jehovah.
I thought it'd be fun to make notes with others. So, I hosted my first challenge in Instagram and was surprised by your positive response to it. So many friends from all around the world joined me, and it was a fantastic experience.
For the 28 days, we would challenge ourselves to make Daily Text notes every day. You liked it so much that I decided to host another challenge in August of the same year.
Recap
The pages in this notebook are quite text-heavy and completely different from how I make my notes today (which I'll talk about next time). Nevertheless, this notebook is an excellent proof that my note-taking style has changed and improved since then.
So if you don't like how your notes look right now, don't worry about this much. Just enjoy the process and be patient; they will improve.
Below you'll find my Daily Text notebook flip-through video. I hope it will encourage you to try making your notes. It's not complicated as you think. Making creative notes is fun and relaxing, but learning through fun can also help you memorize material better.
